In this analysis, the words “photo” and “image” are used interchangeably. This article discusses the missing photo 509. Matt wrote the following technical analysis in order to demonstrate the operations and functionality of the Canon Powershot SX270 HS and the SanDisk SD card that contained the photos. He previously used the camera to replicate similar night-photo conditions (Matt’s other article). To date, Matt has tested the camera more thoroughly than anyone, including Dutch and Panamanian investigators. ![]() He purchased the exact same camera model that Kris and Lisanne used on their trip. This single photo is the subject of much debate and might contain the answer to exactly what happened to Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon. However, one photo had been permanently deleted from the camera. Investigators found numerous photos on the camera’s SD card – photos that were taken by Kris and Lisanne. Inside of their backpack was numerous items, including the Canon Powershot camera they had taken with them on their hike. Three months after they disappeared, their backpack was found on the bank of the Serpent River, 14 Kilometers north of where they were last known to be hiking. ![]() Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon were two Dutch women that disappeared in Panama on April 1st, 2014. ![]()
